Federal Regulations and Industry Rules govern Electronic Transactions. These rules are reviewed and updated from time to time as changes in the industry occur - typically on an annual basis. By signing an ACH Origination Agreement with Northstar Bank, your company has agreed to abide by these rules.
The National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) has recently released an updated Corporate Rules Book for the current year. To access the 2025 ACH Rules, you will need to:
- Visit the NACHA website and create an account as a Premium User.
- Enter your code that was emailed to the company admin.
Please see the attached NACHA Operating Rules Online Resources User Instructions for additional account set up and access assistance.
Important Upcoming Changes in 2026
We highly encourage customers to start acting now on the following rule changes for 2026:
- The company entry description field must contain the description PAYROLL for all payroll payments.
- The company entry description field must contain the description PURCHASE for e-commerce purchases.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you about important security practices that can help you protect your accounts along with the reminder to never update vendor account information received via email without validating the information directly with the vendor using the phone number you have on file.
